Trips and Visits

Residential Trips

Laches Wood Activity Centre

Our Year 9 pupils headed to Laches Wood for a week-long residential adventure in the run-up to half term. It was a week packed with challenges, achievements, and moments that made us incredibly proud.

Activities included canoeing, climbing, archery, axe throwing, night walks, and fire building. Throughout the week, pupils demonstrated our KERC values of Kindness, Engagement, Resilience, and Courage in abundance.

Pupils supported one another brilliantly throughout. From those who showed determination on the climbing wall, to those who felt homesick but chose to stay and see it through, every single pupil showed real character. Particular pride goes to those who pushed through difficult moments and stayed for the full week, which for some was a real personal achievement.

Educational Trips

Black Country Living Museum

Our Key Stage 4 students visited the Black Country Living Museum to step back in time and experience life in the 19th and 20th centuries. Students explored the site in small groups with dedicated period guides, who tailored the experience to their needs and interests.

Highlights included a fascinating demonstration about the dangerous gases found in mines, a tour of the colliery explaining the roles of workers underground, and the chance to see two rare surviving iron-built houses from a short-lived Victorian experiment in construction. Students also compared living conditions across different decades and experienced the sights, sounds, and smells of the era.

Some groups also got to enjoy traditional fairground rides, and our students were praised by guides throughout for their behaviour and engagement.

Beaudesert Activity Centre

Our Year 14 students headed to Beaudesert Activity Centre for a team-building day that gave them the chance to challenge themselves, work together, and have a brilliant time.

Activities included crate stacking and the Monkey Tree, and it was brilliant to watch our pupils cheer each other on every step of the way. Their teamwork, support, and encouragement for one another throughout the day was exceptional.

Visitors in School

Black Country Living Museum — In-School Session

The brilliant team from the Black Country Living Museum came into school to bring Victorian history to life. Pupils learned all about the dangerous gases miners encountered underground, with eye-opening demonstrations that had them fully engaged from start to finish. A huge thank you to Mrs Sherry for organising this session.

The Animal Man

Our Key Stage 4 and 5 pupils welcomed The Animal Man into school for a hands-on learning session. Pupils met a ferret and a black fox, asked thoughtful questions, and showed fantastic confidence when handling the animals. The session was full of curiosity, enthusiasm, and smiles throughout.

Dodgeball Tournament at Two Rivers High School

A group of our pupils took part in a Dodgeball Tournament at Two Rivers High School in Tamworth. They gave everything they had, secured 3rd place, and represented Queen's Croft with brilliant teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the day. We're incredibly proud of every one of them.

Lichfield Foodbank at Tesco

Our students did a fantastic job supporting Lichfield Foodbank during a collection day at Tesco. They handed out shopping lists, collected donations for the most-needed items, and represented our school beautifully. A trustee from the foodbank praised them for their hard work, kindness, and friendliness, and we couldn't be prouder of the difference they made.
