Queen'scroft High School

Destinations

Supporting pupils to move successfully into their next stage is a key priority at Queen’s Croft High School. Preparation for adulthood begins early, and planning for future pathways is embedded throughout a pupil’s time at the school.

This page provides an overview of typical destinations for pupils leaving Queen’s Croft high school and post 16.

Preparing Pupils for Their Next Steps

Preparation for future pathways begins from Key Stage 3 and develops progressively as pupils move through the school.

From Year 7 onwards, pupils are supported to develop the skills, confidence and experiences they need for adulthood through:

  • a personalised curriculum aligned to EHCP outcomes

  • careers education and guidance

  • work-related learning and enterprise opportunities

  • community engagement

  • transition planning at key points

While many pupils choose to continue their education within our Sixth Form, we recognise that for some pupils, the most appropriate next step may be after Year 11. All pathways are planned carefully to ensure they are appropriate, supportive and aspirational.

Typical Destinations

Pupils leaving Queen’s Croft may progress to a range of destinations, depending on their needs, interests, level of independence and support requirements. These may include:

  • further education colleges

  • specialist Post-16 provision

  • vocational training courses

  • supported internships

  • employment (with or without support)

  • independent living or supported living arrangements

  • social care or adult support provision

  • continued education or training alongside care or support

All destinations are planned in partnership with pupils, families, Local Authorities and external professionals to ensure outcomes are realistic, appropriate and sustainable.

For some pupils, a positive destination may include independent or supported living with access to ongoing adult support, enabling them to remain safe, engaged and continue developing life skills and independence.
