General Subjects Teacher

Teachers Pay Scale + SEN Allowance

Queen’s Croft is at an exciting point in its development. We have an engaged and motivated staff who are currently revising our curriculum and assessment systems. We provide for students with a wide range of needs – from those who will always need fulltime care in our complex needs classes to those who achieve five good GCSEs at the end of year 11. We have an Interventions Team who ensure that students’ individual additional needs are being met and opportunities for professional development at all levels.

We are looking for experienced teachers who can apply their knowledge of teaching students within mainstream or secondary schools to the specific context of Queen’s Croft. If you are passionate about high quality curriculum delivery and are able to demonstrate innovative and creative teaching – this could be the perfect post for you. We expect you to share our values of equal opportunities for all students and a determination to overcome obstacles to learning.

We are proud to be part of the Greywood Multi-schools Trust and to work closely with the other schools in the Trust.

Teaching Assistant

Actual salary £17 979 p.a. to £21 065 p.a.

Term time only, 37 hours a week

Queen’s Croft High School is looking for some new teaching assistants for this academic year. These roles are initially fixed term, (from start date to 31.7.22) but we expect that there will be some permanent roles available during the next school year.

Queen’s Croft is a large special school for young people aged 11 to 19 with a range of additional needs. Some of our highest achieving students will complete GCSE qualifications and move onto independent living and employment. Some of our students have more complex needs, find it difficult to communicate with us and are likely to need 24 hours supervision for the rest of their lives. And then there are lots of students in between these two extremes too. What they all have in common is that they like school and want to learn.

We have created a school environment where students build positive relationships with staff and where they are supported to build positive relationships with their peers too. We have high expectations for our students, whatever their level of skills, and are determined that they will make good progress – in learning and in their personal development. Our goal is independence for as many of our students as possible – we want them to be able to communicate independently, to be able to ask for extra help independently and to enjoy life as independently as possible.

This role provides a precious opportunity to develop skills within a school setting and extend your ability to communicate with individuals with additional needs. The role can be challenging and demanding, and we are looking for individuals with resilience and a good sense of humour. This is an exciting time to join a school that is in a period of rapid school improvements.
